"I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence and will be joining an AI startup to lead the Machine Learning Engineering team.
I began studying at Random Math in 2014 when I was in 7th grade, before Random Math was officially a company. I continued studying through most of high school, and in 2018, I started teaching as well.
When I started college at CMU, I was excited by the mathematical rigor of my classes rather than feeling daunted by them, and I owe that to Random Math. I even pursued a minor in Computational Finance because the unknown mathematics involved piqued my curiosity.
I leveraged the skills I learned as a student and teacher at Random Math to secure a competitive TA position for CMU’s most popular undergraduate AI course. Quickly, I became the Head TA in charge of the course staff and logistics thanks to my communication, collaboration, and leadership - skills I had already acquired through being a Random Math student and teacher.
When I interned at SpaceX in 2023, the confidence I had gained through Random Math and teaching enabled me to own the team’s highest-impact project and deliver a strong final presentation on its successful completion. Despite the rest of the team not having the same background as me, I knew how to communicate at the appropriate technical level to convey the complexity of my work without losing my audience in technical details.
Reflecting on the past decade, I realize the character and skills that I have developed because of my time at Random Math have already brought me success in many aspects. I look forward to building on this success in my full-time job leading a team of Machine Learning Engineers at an AI startup."
